Remembering  Norma Shearer  on her birthday (10 August 1902 - 12 June 1983)

Often derided as artificial, I instead find her gestural style of acting  - posing, tilting the head, hands to mouth or forehead -  which she picked up while learning her craft in silent films, very moving. It’s not “naturalistic”, but then isn’t naturalism itself just a pose?
